Know & Control what starts up when you turn on your PC

Does your computer takes forever to start? System seems to crawl rather than run? Too many useless programs running in the systray? Sex Dialers and worms turning your PC into a hacker's slave?

You'd be surprised by how much junk can silently execute themselves when you hit that "ON" button.

I recommend 2 excellent pieces of software which can help you see and control what starts and what doesn't.

Windows Startup Inspectors is a newbie friendly program that will connect to its database to retrieve info about whether those entries in your startup folder and registries can be safely disabled. Rating - 4.5/5

For powerusers, I recommend Autoruns by the geniuses at Sysinternals. This one has many powerful features and even detects BHOs (browser helper objects). Rating - 5/5
